The Amstel Saxophone Quartet is selected for the Finale of the Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition in Yellow Springs, Ohio on May 2nd, 2004

April 24th Ties Mellema will be a soloist with the Holland Symfonia Orchestra in de Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.

MTV is now broadcasting the MTV Fusion 'chunk' on Ties Mellema, filmed during the MTV Fusion night, when the Amsterdam Concertgebouw was restyled as a club. Ties Mellema played together with DJ Laid Back Luke in front of a dancing crowd. Ties Mellema won the prestigious Vriendenkrans Award on 13 March 2004 during the annual competition organized by the Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Concertgebouw Orchestra. He also won the audience prize, the press prize, the Concertgebouw Prize and a scholarship given by the Maurits van Kattendijke foundation.
